edge functions result in CORS issue

Basically I'm trying to run edge functions from a astro client.

I created a simple astro component for testing:

I followed the docs to configure CORS and created a hello-world edge function:

When I start supabase locally with supabase start and serving the functions supabase functions serve and trying to execute the function I get following error:
[Error] SyntaxError: Unexpected end of JSON input

When I inspect my network

As one can see in the preflight request are the corsHeaders missing. Why is it not jumping in the respective if-condition?
