Requesting Administrative permissions on Windows

I was trying to run Grist Desktop and was surprised that it requests administrative access. Is it possible to run the Electron app without needing admin permissions?

I've noticed that too on newer Windows versions - I was wondering if it was to set up the association with the .grist extension, but haven't had a chance to nail it down. Will try fiddling with Electron settings.

I see some comments on Automattic/simplenote-electron#1181 and related issues that suggest some possibilities.
