Using the rr debugger

Is it possible to use the rr debugger with dap-mode? rr calls gdb so in principle it would be possible but I tried attaching to a running rr replay but I haven't managed to make it work. Doing something like rr replay -s 50505 -k and trying to attach doesn't seem to be working. I'm asked for the root password and then nothing happens and I can't find much information.
