Steps to reproduce

  1. Where are you starting? What can you see?

Try to verify someone when you don't yet have a DM with.
In order to start the verification, a new DM room will be created.

The recipient will see the invite, and after accepting he will only see
image

There is no UX, no dialog to interact with.

This flow used to work before the following change matrix-org/matrix-react-sdk#11931

But it is not anymore.

If you request the verification when there is already an existing DM, the recipient will see a dialog to accept the request

To be able to accept the verification request

No UX/Dialog to do it.

There is no UX, no dialog to interact with.

I was unable to reproduce this.

On the recipient side:

  1. I saw the invite:
    image
    image

  2. After clicking "start chatting" I saw this toast:
    image

  3. I was able to start the verification process as normal.

It sounds like something specific went wrong in your case, Valere, rather than this being a general failure mode.
