Steps to reproduce

I have been trying to narrow down this issue for almost 2 years, and have uninstalled and reinstalled element android many times in this time. One of the times, element android bricked my phone completely by doing this. I don't know why android lets you guys mess up this badly, but whatever.

What happens is that over a period of 2-3months, element android slowly leaks into and fills "System Storage". It isn't clear that element android is doing this, with the exception that room search fails. The most recent time this happened (today) I took no action whatsoever except uninstall element android and when I checked my system storage, it had gone from 73GB all the way down to 14GB. I don't understand how this is possible, it is completely beyond me, but here we are. In a previous instance, as much as 90GB had leaked into system storage. And the first time, i was completely unaware of the bug until it kept crashing the OS very shortly after boot, and I had to reinstall it.

Now, I was never sure that element android was the problem until today, and I'm sure that this is all anecdotal evidence, but you should be very concerned.

I suspect this issue has not been cleared up before because I do have an unusually large matrix.org account, however I have seen this mentioned previously.
